Happy New Year!

Posted in Thank You For Sharing at 8:57 pm by Fritz

img_0241.JPGWhere has the year gone? 2007 was an exciting year. So exciting, I haven’t written for almost a year. My Guardian and her Main Squeeze went to Kauai, HI for vacation in August. Are no costs spared? She had a FABOO time and recommends everyone adds Kauai to their Bucket List. It is the Garden Paradise. The plane trips are long. The Bloody Mary’s during stopover in Phoenix helped ease the pain. Highly recommended is the Hanalei Bay Resort, Princeville. It’s an older establishment and has beautiful amenities that for the value can’t be beat. Had time to visit HulaBarb (cousin Barbara) who she hadn’t seen in over 30 years (we’re such a close knit family). Cousin Jamie was Guardian’s flower girl when she was married in 1972. Now Jamie has a flower girl of her own - beautiful Shannon (seen in pic).

Over the New Year holiday, Guardian/Squeeze visited Sandy, UT. Skiing was sweet at Alta. Park City, on the other hand, could use a few less snow boarders. Guardian perfected her wipe outs and came home with nothing broken.

The Fritz-Man has been busy keeping Grandmom under control. It’s quite a challenge keeping up with a 95-year-old who can’t remember what day of the week it is. But then…neither can I. GM and I nap a lot. But I keep her on her toes when I bark at imaginery things in the family room. I see them. Why can’t she? She loves to yell at me which keeps her voice in tune. Then I’ll purposely drop toys and food and stuff. Keeps her waist trim picking up after me.

And, of course, there are the Presidential nominations. I’m for anyone supporting animal rights. I’m for anyone supporting human rights, too. I just hope my groomer doesn’t start charging John Edwards prices.

In case you’re wondering, the French Poodle and I are still an item. We celebrated the New Year like many other couples. A little dinner, a little wine, a little dance, a little song, a little…….you get the drift.

Fritz on Dog Fancy MagazineThe throngs (or is that thongs?) have spoken and I am complying. Yes, that was Fritz from the Bark-a-Lounger on the cover of Internet Dog Fancy. In case you missed it….here it is….

Feet

Posted in Thank You For Sharing at 1:24 am by Fritz

I’m short. I know it. No one has to tell me. And I hate it. As I walk around all day on all fours, I see a lot of feet. And ankles. And calves. And that’s about all. It’s borrr-iiiing. Take me for a walk, already. Let me see the sights. I want to explore the world and it’s bad enough I’ve got this leash thing. I’d like my human to go all day with her head 2 feet off the floor. She’d see what I see - which is not much. And why do they take me to these crowded places where I get trampled by 1,000,000 feet? It’s not fun. Yeah, sometimes someone will lean down and love me. But then there I go, back again, walking along and someone steps on me. I’ve got feelings, too, you know. It’s dark down here. Give me some space. I wish there was a stretcher to make my legs 3 feet longer. But with my luck, each leg would be a different height. So remember your 4-leggers don’t get the view that you do.

Taverna D’Italia

On the outside I am a Schnauzer. But inside I am a Spinone Italiano. Tonight I dined at Taverna D’Italia in Wilmington, DE. Magnifico!! Oh, such Bruschetta! Such Pasta! I cannot say enough. I dined on the Spinach Lasagna. The sauce was eccellente! Rich and full. My companion (not the French Poodle) dined on Talapia with Mussels. She could not get enough - especially since I woofed down many of her mussels. We each brought home a people bag for tomorrow night’s dinner. Of a 0-10 rating, this got an 11.

LaCroix

Posted in Food at 12:51 am by Fritz

Center City Restaurant Week takes place January 28-February 2 in Philadelphia. The deal is a 3-course meal for $30 at some of the finest restaurants in the area. The Canine Furball and friends chose LaCroix at the Rittenhouse. What a disappointment. Yes, the ambience was there and they were certainly well (over) staffed. But it was pretty certain by all attending that portions are scaled way back for the $30 menu. Moroccan Spiced Chicken Squares were not well done (like in ‘not cooked’). Though I do prefer my meat raw, in a fine restaurant I would expect chicken to be cooked until done. The Handmade Sweet Potato Gnocchi was tasty but should have been served in a smaller dish to at least give the appearance of an ample serving. Desserts were fair and mine measured about 1″ x 1″ x 1″ with a drizzle filling up the rest of the plate. My friends agreed we may have done better ordering off the menu. The area has fabulous shops and the walk around Rittenhouse Square was wonderful. Just being in Philadelphia is wonderful. But overall, I would not take my French Poodle to LaCroix (though she would look stunning).

O.K. That was easy. I may need to cut my nails. But I’m on my way.
